FAQ
Q. Does there have to be something "wrong" in my life to work with a Personal Coach?
A. Absolutely not. Personal Coaching is all about taking a great life and making it even better. Instead of focusing on what's "broken," it completely focuses on creating forward momentum. So, if you have a dream, are interested in discovering your life's passion, or simply feel a need to create the next chapter in your life, Personal Coaching could be the perfect tool to help you move forward.

Q. What are the biggest benefits of working with a Personal Coach?
A. There are three huge benefits to Personal Coaching. First, a great Personal Coach can assist you in clearly defining your goals and visioning what it is that you truly want in life. Next, a well-trained Personal Coach can help you overcome any obstacles that may be in the way of achieving your dreams. This often involves helping you address fears and doubts, as well as re-framing limiting beliefs you may experience. As such, I highly recommend you work with someone who has extensive training on the mental and emotional levels, as well as the physical. And, finally, a Personal Coach can help you establish a tangible action plan, including weekly action steps to move you more quickly toward your vision and make it a reality.

Q. Is there a difference between Personal Coaching and Therapy?
A. Both Therapists and Personal Coaches work to help people move forward in their lives. However, their approaches can be significantly different.

Therapists are experts in medical and behavioral sciences trained to treat diagnosable conditions. As such, they tend to work with clients regarding issue resolution, providing professional help toward healing and recovery.

Personal Coaches work with clients who want a skilled partner to help them create the life they want, generating positive momentum for change. They see their clients' strengths, brilliance and areas in need of development, and are trained to support the client as they achieve their desired outcome. To accelerate the growth process and open clients up to greater possibilities, Personal Coaches also encourage awareness, acceptance and self-discipline of emotions and/or thoughts.

Importantly, while therapists are required to keep their personal thoughts and experiences removed, Personal Coaches use personal disclosure as a tool to catalyze and inspire their clients.

Q. How do I know if a specific Personal Coach is the right fit for me?
A. For starters, you want to be sure you have good chemistry with a Personal Coach - this is the person who is going to help you define and achieve your life's dreams, after all. So, I encourage you to speak with a Personal Coach first - and even multiple Personal Coaches - to see if you're a good fit.

One idea is to set up an initial phone conversation to explore their background, philosophy, approach and personality. After the conversation, ask yourself how comfortable you feel with them? Is it a person you believe will be able to help you move forward? Is it someone you like?

And, in terms of their background, you may want to ask them about their past experiences and training. What kind of issues do they tend to work on with their clients? Do they have extensive training working on the mental and emotional levels, as well as the physical? What is their general process or style of working?

Of course, there are no guarantees. A perfect fit for one person (even a close friend) is not necessarily a perfect fit for another. So, be open and willing to explore. And make sure you pick someone that feels right for you.

Q. What if I have a personal relationship with a Personal Coach? Will it be strange or uncomfortable for me to attend workshops or work with them one-on-one?
A. It all depends on the person, but it certainly doesn't have to be. Some of my past clients who have achieved the greatest success have been my closest friends and co-workers.

So, as long as the Personal Coach you're speaking with has training and skills to help you move forward, and you are starting from a healthy, entanglement-free relationship, you may want to check it out. I encourage you to ask them all the same questions you would ask anyone else, and explore whether or not it could be a good fit for you.

Q. If I work with a Personal Coach, how frequently do I need to see them?
A. In general, in order to gain the greatest benefits possible, it works best to see a Personal Coach once a week. A week is a natural productivity cycle, and working together on a weekly basis creates the maximum momentum for positive change.

While some clients choose to come on a bi-weekly basis, it's important to recognize that increasing the length between sessions may also increase the length of time to reach your goals.

Q. How long do I need to work with a Personal Coach in order to make positive changes in my life?
A. While it varies depending on the person, their goals and the challenges they're facing, committing to a minimum of 3-months is highly recommended. Essentially, a 3-month time period allows you to fully appreciate the impact of making consistent and focused action steps, and to begin seeing tangible shifts in your life.
